Introduction

Identity Staking, also known as GTC staking, is a mechanism that allows you to stake GTC on yourself and on the trusted individuals in your network to boost reputation.

Validity: 90 days

While the Ethereum mainnet network might be easiest to obtain GTC on, Optimism and Arbitrum will enable you to stake with lower gas fees.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

Self GTC Staking

Validity: 90 days.

Fees: GTC staking amount + network gas fees.

The credentials are:

  • Bronze: You stake 5 GTC on yourself

  • Silver: You stake 20 GTC on yourself

  • Gold: You stake 125 GTC on yourself

To stake on yourself,

  1. Browse to the GTC Staking page and connect your wallet.

  2. Click the dropdown on β€œYour Stake” section

  1. Choose the amount you want to stake and the Lockup period. Go ahead and stake.

  2. Authorize the contract: Initiate the first transaction to grant permission for the smart contract to access and utilize your GTC tokens. This is a critical security step to ensure that only the staking process can move your GTC, safeguarding your assets. Confirm this authorization through your wallet to proceed to the final staking phase.

  3. Complete the staking: After authorizing, you'll need to confirm the staking transaction. This action officially stakes your GTC tokens. A prompt will appear in your wallet for this second and final confirmation. Follow your wallet’s instructions to finish the staking process.

  4. Once you’ve successfully completed the transactions, you can see your stake appear on the dashboard under the β€œYour Stake” section


Community GTC Staking

Validity: 90 days.

Fees: GTC staking amount + network gas fees.

The credentials are:

  • Beginner Community Staker: Stake 5 GTC on at least 1 account or have 1 account stake 5 GTC on you.

  • Experienced Community Staker: Participate in two staking actions, each involving at least 10 GTC. Options include: staking on two different accounts, receiving stakes from two different accounts, or a mutual stake. Every stake must be a minimum of 10 GTC.

  • Trusted Citizen: Receive stakes from 5 unique users, each staking a minimum of 20 GTC on you.

To stake on others,

  1. Browse to the GTC Staking page and connect your wallet.

  2. Click the β€œStake for Others” section

  1. Choose the amount you want to stake and the Lockup period. Go ahead and stake.

  2. Authorize the contract: Initiate the first transaction to grant permission for the smart contract to access and utilize your GTC tokens. Follow these steps to claim the stamp:

  1. Go to https://app.passport.xyz/ and "Sign in with Ethereum" to access your dashboard.

  2. Click Connect on the GTC Staking stamp card.

  3. Click Verify to claim all credentials that you are eligible for.

  4. Confirm your account is now verified. You can confirm this by seeing the button that previously read as Connect Account will now say Verified.
