To acquire GTC (Gitcoin's token), you can use several types of applications, typically decentralized exchanges (DEXs), centralized exchanges (CEXs), and crypto wallet applications.

Using a DEX provides more control and privacy, while a CEX offers a more straightforward and user-friendly experience. Choose the platform that best suits your needs and preferences.

Available networks

While you can also stake using the Ethereum L1 network, we specifically recommend that you acquire GTC on one of the following L2s, as the gas fees will be significantly cheaper:

  • Optimism

  • Arbitrum

Available methods

Using a DEX provides more control and privacy, while a CEX offers a more straightforward and user-friendly experience. Choose the platform that best suits your needs and preferences.

Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs)

These platforms allow you to trade tokens directly from your wallet, providing more privacy and control over your assets.

  • : A widely used Ethereum-based DEX where you can swap various ERC-20 tokens, including GTC.

  • : Another Ethereum-based DEX that supports GTC trading.

Centralized Exchanges (CEXs)

These are more traditional exchanges where you create an account, deposit funds, and trade tokens.

Crypto Wallets

Some crypto wallets integrate with DEXs or have built-in swap features, allowing you to acquire tokens directly within the app.

Guides to buy GTC

Acquiring GTC on a DEX

  1. Install a Crypto Wallet: Install MetaMask or any other compatible wallet and ensure it has funds (ETH) for the transaction fees.

  2. Connect to a DEX: Visit Uniswap or SushiSwap and connect your wallet.

  3. Swap Tokens: Select GTC and the token you want to swap (e.g., ETH), and execute the trade.

Acquiring GTC on a CEX

  1. Create an Account: Sign up for an account on Coinbase, Binance, or another exchange that lists GTC.

  2. Verify Your Identity: Complete any required KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures.

  3. Deposit Funds: Deposit fiat currency or crypto into your exchange account.

  4. Trade for GTC: Navigate to the trading section, search for GTC, and place a buy order.

Guide to bridge GTC

While you can currently stake on Ethereum, Optimism, and Arbitrum One, we recommend that you stick to a layer 2 network since gas fees will be cheaper.

To get GTC on an L2, you will need to do a couple of things:

  1. Get ETH on your preferred L2

  2. Swap ETH for GTC on that L2

Once you have ETH on one of our supported L2s, you can swap it to GTC on Optimism or Arbitrum using the following links:

: A user-friendly exchange that supports GTC.

: One of the largest exchanges globally, which often lists popular tokens like GTC.

: Another reliable exchange that supports a wide range of tokens.

: A popular Ethereum wallet with a built-in swap feature.

: Supports multiple blockchains and includes a DEX for token swaps.

There are many ways to bridge ETH from one network to another. We recommend reading this guide to learn more:
