Stamp re-weight: January 2026
This guide describes what's changing, why it's changing, and addresses some frequently asked questions.
Strengthening Passport Humanity Verification: Recent Stamp Updates
Think of Passport like a radio dial that is usually tuned just right. Most of the time, the signal comes through clearly. But as the environment changes, a little static starts to creep in: Sybils learn the rhythm, familiar patterns lose their edge, and the line between human behavior and automation begins to soften. So, from time to time, we retune.
If you are here to prove you are human, nothing about this update is meant to slow you down. The goal is the opposite. Reduce noise. Improve signal. Keep participation open.
Below is a summary of what is changing, what is new, and what is being retired.
How these updates roll out
If you already hold affected Stamps, you keep your current points until those Stamps expire. There are no sudden removals or instant score drops.
Once expired, retired Stamps cannot be renewed. Updated Stamps will reflect their new criteria and point values at verification.
New users see the updated Stamp set immediately.
New Stamps are set in Beta mode, meaning we are monitoring them closely and we'll make adjustments based on the feedback.
New Stamps
Steam Stamp - Beta

• Requires meeting all eligibility conditions
This Stamp is especially helpful for users early in their crypto journey.
Twitter/X Stamp - Beta
The X Stamp returns in an updated format. This version focuses on stable account characteristics such as account age, follower count, and verification status.

Biometrics Stamp
The Biometrics Stamp has completed its beta phase. With higher confidence in performance, its value increases from 5 to 6 points.

Stamps being retired
Idena and BrightID
These Stamps are being removed due to low activity and recurring verification issues.
What to expect:
• If you already verified them, you keep the points until expiration
• They cannot be renewed
• If unclaimed, they no longer appear in the app
What this means overall
Some Stamps are easy for humans and also easy for Sybils. Others continue to hold up under pressure. This update shifts weight toward signals that remain reliable and effective, while keeping multiple paths open for users to verify in ways that suit them.
The underlying principle remains unchanged.
-> Make it simple for real humans to participate.
-> Make it difficult for automation to blend in.
More updates will follow as behavior evolves.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Will my score decrease as part of this change?
For this Stamp reweight, the Stamps that are being retired and that you have verified will not see any changes until they expire (90 days after verifying). In case the Stamp point increases, you will automatically get extra points.
Your score may fluctuate as part of this update, but not until the affected Stamps that you’ve verified expire. Once the BrightID or Idena Stamps expire within your Passport, they will be fully retired.
Are you removing points entirely?
For any of the credentials that are being removed or reduced, we’ll be reapplying those points to other Stamps.

It is not.
Passport is a public good that continues to provide an identity verification system that is easy and cheap for all users, while also providing a strong human/Sybil signal for our 100+ partners who have relied on Passport’s tools to protect rewards, governance, and other community programs.
